Beet the Heat

Hey y’all

OMG, my writing space is toasty!!

Let me catch you up on the end of transplanting and where I am now.

The end of May and early June has been unnaturally hot. Temperatures have been in the high eighties to low nineties. Thankfully I have had two days off so I am not baking in the sun and can spend time on training.

Flip made some of the best natural popsicles I have ever had. She used frozen strawberries and raspberries, lemon balm, and maple syrup. They were so refreshing after a hot day of planting, Tuesday, where one could tell that the heat was zapping my energy.

After Wednesday night, transplanting was finished which was a huge success! Hopefully, I can get on a more consistent schedule for recovery and training.

As many know, I am still trying to compete as a high-level collegiate skier. Training has not been easy for me this summer. Working up to five hours in the garden and then trying to do intensity or an over-distance workout is challenging. With this heat wave, Bob has allowed me to take this time to train in the cooler parts of the day. Working with a coach in Stillwater MN, Ryan at Fluid Health and Fitness, instead of training with a team of athletes and coaches has been interesting. But I would not recommend two days of treadmill workouts because, gosh alfrighty I am sore. I love using Midwest slang so enjoy!

Hopefully, more blog posts to come with more detail! Let me know if there is anything you want to hear about would love your input.

Happy Trails and planting!
