A Dog’s Paradise

The two dogs that rule the farm is Rye and Millie.

Rye is now eleven and has been the king of littleGrasse farm. Rye is a gentle soul that just stands or lays on watch as we are working in the garden. Rye is a big Mamma’s boy and who can blame him, Flip is awesome! Rye is a gentle giant, compared to Mille. When Rye needs to he can turn on the boosters and chase a rabbit or other creature trying to snack on the bounty of the garden.

Rye living his best life in his spot outside

Millie is a nine week old Golden Retriever mixed with an English Shepperd. She is full of energy and is spunky but she can clock out and sleep all day. She has learned the basic commands of sit and come but she still gets into the beds and she is nine weeks old so she has time to learn. Millie is a bundle of fluff and spunk. While playing with her and her ultra sharp razor teeth she grabbed my hand. Mille also likes to play tug of war with my hair too, but can you blame her she is on play mode. I did try to keep her from Rye because he doesn’t want to play and will bark to put Millie in her place and off of him.

Millie, a bit wet bit she is still cute.

If I could describe the two of them together it would be in a bookish way. I am reading a book with the grumpy sunshine troupe. This means that there is a kind of grey, grumpy, and mellow character and a full of energy, spunky, and lots of sunshine. Rye is the grumpy old man who gets really annoyed with Mille when she is in play mode. But in the grumpy sunshine always end up together and become friends. I think in time Rye will learn to like Millie and will become buddies. Proof is in the photos look at the icon picture of this post and you can see that they are sitting so close that they could be touching.

Writing this, I am on dog duty while Bob and Flip are spending time together and going to an art show. So I am able to relax inside and write a blog post, read, and watch highlights and listen to my podcasts that cover Le Tour de France. Getting ready to also see my friend in Saranac lake on Wednesday for dinner.

Happy Fourth of July and Happy Trails
