What has been going on…
Where do I begin this new blog post? What can I talk about? What do you, The readers want to know? I am not sure so I will catch you up on life in the big city of Canton NY. So this is kind of a rough blog post, so next time will be a cleaner post!
The week that my dad was in town was the same week everyone had family in town. Bob went to Syracuse to go see a Grateful Dead Concert with some friends he hadn’t seen in 40 years and then the following night with his brother. Back in Canton/DeKalb, Flip had all her siblings in town, one sibling is from Alaska, another from Ohio, and the third from Vermont. And my dad from Birkieland!
Then this past weekend Bob’s niece Emma and her friend Neal came over. I connected with Emma because we both love the same book series, Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. And she has pushed me to read Maas’s other works.
There wasn’t just energy with the two guests but with the four-legged guests. Emma and Neal’s dog Larry David, yes, named after the Seinfeld writer. Larry was playing with Rye, Bob and Flip’s dog, and a new puppy. Blog on the four-legged members of the farm with be coming soon.
Man, the Mad River Valley of Vermont is a beauty and a great place to call my second home. I went to school at Green Mountain Vally School, GMVS, I will be writing about this place later this summer because I will be coaching a camp. I drove down to the Valley with my Dad. We ate at our favorite grocery store deli, where my mom worked while we lived together in Vermont for my senior year of High School. I got my favorite sandwich the 33, a sub sandwich with turkey, bacon, crunchy red onion, and avocado spread. My mouth is already watering because I miss this sandwich. MY dad shared my noodles and he had a toasted BLT, a classic sandwich!
After lunch, we met up with a great friend of ours. Someone who I call my adopted VT mom, Jen. Jen has opened her home to me on a number of occasions and I am extremely grateful! We meet at the Sweet Spot, a bakery/coffee shop where you can overlook the mad river, and a swimming hole where at camp where the river run ends. Again I will talk about camp in July.
I drove back and rocked out to great music and sang my heart out. I also had my first solo drive back to NY from Vermont. I woke myself before driving, I walked around Barnes and Noble and did buy two books and then when I got back to Canton I stopped at the Dairy Queen and got a Blizzard. The new Brookie Blizarrd is really good and with the money.
Well that is what I have for now with this ramble.
Happy Trails!
