All about the herbs
Lets chat about herbs.
Herbs are abundent in the garden because herbs and leafy greens are some of the first things to come up that are avaiable for shareholders.
So I thought that I would do a taste test and what they are.
Number 1: Leaf Fennel
Leaf Fennel has a bit of a bland but peppery taste.
Number 2: Common Sage
Sage has a bumpy texture and one can see the little bumps on the leaf. The taste is very natural meaning just tastes like a leaf nothing exciting.
Number 3: Cilantro
Cilantro has an interesting taste. Not toothpaste tasting but I learned that once cilantro is cooked the toothpaste taste will go away.
Number 4: Strawberry Mint
Like in the name this this variety of mint has a fruity taste too. If you ever have had an Ice Breakers Duos then that is kind of the same thing.
Number 5: Chocolate Mint
This herb has the perfect flavor for mint chocolate treats. Kind of like Andes or Junior Mint but not as sweet or chocolatey! But if you get close to the plant, it smells like a Mint Chocolate candy bar.
Number 6: Spearamint
This just tastes like spearmint the spiciness of spearmint but not a lot of mint flavor. Great to have in tea with lemon balm and rosemary. Yum!
Number 7: Lemon Balm
Lemon Balm tastes like lemon and has the smell of natural bug spray with a lemony scent. Really good in popsicles!
Number 8: Lovage
Lovage is a strong peppery taste
Number 9: Sorrel
Sorrel is as lemony as Lemon Balm. I really like the taste of this herb. really strong but refreshing.
So with these late spring and early summer bounties enjoy creating meals with new flavors this time of year. So explore the flavors that Mother Nature provides.
