What a Race…
Today was the Summer Sunset Runner Series. A monthly running race that consists of a 1-mile kids race and a 5K race.
(This is the second time I am writing this so i will do my best with rewriting what I said the first time.)
As I am warming up, I see my coach come with his kids. In my head, I go aww crap! Now I have a competition. As the time is ticking away and getting closer to race time the two of us go jog around together to stay warm. My plan now that my coach is here is to stay with him and try to finish near him.
Instead of finishing near him. I actually cross the finish line 10 seconds ahead of him, Yes!
During my race, there was a woman with some pretty cool shorts who I get in front of and want to tell her to stay on my tail. She did stay with me and even out-kicked me in the finish.
During my cool down and before I head back to the farm to get some dinner I head back on to the course to find Ethan, my coach, and his son. As my coach’s son is completing his first 5K. So I find my coach to run back to find his son and the three of us run into the finish together.
As I was running back to the farm my legs feel extremely heavy and sore. I will definitely feel the race tomorrow. This was my first running race in a while and my first race pace effort in a few months. I felt good to push the effort but I will feel it tomorrow.
i am getting pretty tired so it is going to be pretty short. (I wish the first version was saved because it was better)
